Research & Development

Collaborative R&D with institutions and industry. Custom protocol development and propagation method optimisation based in Australia's research capital.

Plant research laboratory

Research partnerships

We work with universities, research institutions, and industry on plant propagation research. Our Canberra location provides proximity to CSIRO, ANU, and the Australian National Botanic Gardens—a unique concentration of plant science expertise.

Research collaborations range from developing protocols for new species to optimising existing methods for commercial efficiency. We provide contract research services or work as partners on funded projects, including those supported by AgriFutures Australia's Emerging Industries Program.

Our research has contributed to propagation advances across emerging industries including native foods, pomegranate, and conservation of threatened species.

Research laboratory work

Research services

From initial feasibility studies through to commercial-ready protocols.

Protocol development

Custom tissue culture protocols for new or difficult species, optimised for commercial viability.

Variety trials

Propagation and evaluation of new varieties and breeding lines for industry partners.

Method optimisation

Improving multiplication rates, rooting success, and acclimatisation for existing protocols.

Conservation research

Developing protocols for threatened species with no established propagation methods.

Native plant research

Research areas

Native plant propagation

Developing protocols for Australian native species, many of which have no established tissue culture methods despite commercial or conservation value.

Emerging crops

Supporting new agricultural industries like native foods, pomegranate, dates, and novel fruit crops with propagation research and protocol development.

Disease resistance

Working with breeding programs to propagate and evaluate disease-resistant selections, supporting variety development for Australian conditions.

Conservation genetics

Supporting conservation programs with propagation of threatened species and preservation of genetic diversity through germplasm storage.

Working with us

Contract research

Fee-for-service research addressing specific propagation challenges or protocol development needs.

Collaborative projects

Joint research partnerships on funded projects, sharing expertise and resources toward common goals.

Industry partnerships

Long-term relationships with industry bodies and grower groups to address sector-wide propagation needs.
